Artist's Comments________________________________ "Seasons may change, winter to spring, but I'll love you until the end of time" - Moulin Rouge _____________________________________ This is my entry for _____________________________________ The lovely stock I used: The wood: The old book: The old polaroids: The sticky tape brushes: The writing: __________________________________ This is a collage about my favorite season: Summer The fist picture up on the left was taken in the hills of Carinthia (Austria). I just had to The red rose, right below the first picture was taken in Lower Austria in my aunts and uncles garden. I made that picture when I didn't feel like jumping on their huge trampoline any longer. It was one of the very first hot days round here this year! The picture of the little wooden path was taken in Carinthia too. I chose this one because it reminds me of one of the smells I like the most in Spring and Summer: freshly mowed grass! (although I also love the smell of rain a lot) The picture on the upper right side would be showing the blossoms of my favorite tree The explanation why I chose the last picture is a bit longer, I guess. My mom always loved the sea and sunshine, but sometimes tends to feel a bit depressed in Winter. To make sure that gets a less my mother, father, sister and I go to the Canary Islands each February. That's where I get my first dose of Summer each year. This would be one shell that I took along from this years trip Why is it an old book on old wood? I made this a collage in a book for several reasons. The most important one being, that my family tends to go hiking a lot in summer - especially mountains. On top of those mountains (attached to the summit cross) there mostly is a book where anyone who comes up there can write in. Sometimes there are little drawings in there, sometimes little stories of how people came there, how the weather was etc. Its always fun to just look through them and see what one can find. Apart from that there always is a lot of old wood on the top of Austrian mountains! There are alpine cabins, fences, little bridges leading over little rivers. I always was fascinated by old weather-beaten wood (mostly with carved in hearts and initials). It all has something eternal about it (guess cause it looks like it would have been there for ever), just like seasons. Knowing it will always become Summer is what I almost like most about this season. _____________________________________ Thank you to all who actually read this |

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
